Associate Desktop Support Specialist

Industrial Light & Magic is hiring a talented and motivated Associate Desktop Support Specialist to join our Sydney team!

As an Associate Desktop Specialist, you will provide critical, hands-on operations support in a fast-paced production environment. You will be the front line, ensuring our creative and technical teams have the stability and performance they need.

What will you be doing?

•  Front-Line Troubleshooting: Research, diagnose, document, and promptly resolve technical issues across a diverse range of systems: Windows, SCCM, Alma Linux, MAC OSX, MS Office, Google Workspace, Email, Internet connections, and hardware/peripherals.

• System Deployment & Repair: Efficiently install, configure, and troubleshoot software in Linux, MacOS and Windows environments. You'll also work with Production Engineers to manage and repair PC environments.

• User Management: Manage end-user expectations and system issues with professional, courteous service. You will effectively communicate status updates and changes to staff and stakeholders.

• Networking & Integration: Set up, upgrade, and integrate computer systems (including printers, scanners, and tablets) with minimal user interruption across Linux, Macintosh, and Windows systems.

• Process Improvement: Proactively analyze existing processes, identify areas for enhancement, and actively participate in team discussions to drive process creation and improvement.

• Security & Administration: Handle the fundamentals of IT security protocols, including routine account administration and mail/printing system administration.

Key Requirements:

•  Education/Experience: A Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent), or relevant desktop support experience in a fast-paced production setting.

• Linux Proficiency: Strong skills in Linux operating systems (CentOS primarily). Command line experience is required. Remote management and scripting experience are a plus.

• Technical Acumen: Excellent understanding of technology and how client-side systems interact with the larger IT infrastructure.

• Soft Skills: Excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills. 

• You must be professional, friendly, detail-oriented, and able to manage time effectively, triage, and prioritize tasks based on production needs.

• Physical Requirement: Must be able to lift 22 KGs (approximately 50 lbs) on a regular basis.

• Availability: Must be willing to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.

• Experience with Windows 11 operating systems

• Experience supporting 3D artists, software developers, or working within a creative production environment, is a plus.

• This role is required to be onsite in Sydney.
