Your role?
As the Pipeline TD Manager, you are responsible for promoting, enhancing and developing the careers of the Sydney Pipeline TD team by working with Show leadership and the local Lead Pipeline TD to ensure the Shows are fully supported and everyone has a path to technical growth. The primary focus is ensuring team efficiency and skills growth.
What will you be doing?
Team Management
Directly manage the Sydney Pipeline TDs, including performance evaluations, career development, and compensation considerations.
Collaborate with the Technical Lead of the PipeTD team and PE Manager to provide guidance, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback to team members.
Use your own technical background to guide each team member towards the next step in their career.
Analyse and optimise existing team workflows and processes, and explore new methodologies to enhance team efficiency and outcomes.
Organise team meetings and facilitate team-building activities.
Partner with the Technical Lead to
Identify and support the professional development goals of the Pipeline TD team.
Assess skill gaps within the team and implement appropriate training or solutions.
Maintain awareness of Show assignments and provide rationale to leadership as necessary.
Support the implementation of technical processes, dashboards, communication channels etc. and in identifying the Show’s evolving needs.
Collaboration
Liaise with CG and Comp Supes, Production Managers, and Producers to gather feedback on the team’s performance.
Communicate with the Production Technical Co-ordinator concerning production requirements and escalation support.
Work with global Pipe TD Managers and Supervisors to ensure a consistent approach whilst solving Sydney Studios unique challenges.
Publicise and recognise team achievements within the Sydney studio and the broader organisation.
Address billing inquiries and resolve issues in collaboration with Production Managers and Finance.
To be a contributing member of this team, you will have a mix of these skills:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience managing a technical team and stakeholders
At least 5 years’ experience in a VFX company for film, commercials or television
Great communication skills to coordinate interdepartmental, sometimes cross facility, needs and schedules
Decent understanding of the VFX pipeline workflow preferred
