About the Role:


Star Sports is the leading sports broadcaster in India. It offers a wide variety of sports content, broadcasting all major sports events such as IPL, ICC, Cricket Australia, Premier League, Pro Kabaddi, Wimbledon etc. Star Sports has redefined sports broadcasting in India with extensive cricket coverage, including domestic and international matches. It also offers several regional channels in different languages to cater to the diverse linguistic audience in India. We serve high quality content to millions of customers with world class technology and production. We are now seeking an individual to join our dynamic marketing team. This position is responsible for handling strategy & marketing plans for sports (cricket, emerging sports) & grassroots initiatives like Khelo India Youth Games.


Context:

Star Sports is a key catalyst in espousing a multisport culture in India. Over the past 5 years, it has invested in and partnered with key stakeholders to popularize sports beyond Cricket. You will play a crucial role in supporting the smooth functioning of our organization. Your focus will be to grow viewership of the event on TV and to deepen engagement with light, medium and heavy consumers of the sport/event. The role will also oversee marketing efforts to recruit new viewers into the fold of the sport/event.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis: Assimilating and analysing viewership trends, triggers, and barriers for viewership for each property/event & ratifying different hypothesis basis the data analysis with the help of primary or secondary research where applicable.
  • Insight Development: Developing actionable insights into effective product, media, and communication plans.
  • Goal Setting: Developing and aligning the key goals for the marketing task ranging from awareness targets, intention to watch targets, media reach targets and viewership targets (TVR/event reach/frequency/consumption)
  • Planning & Project Management: Planning and executing marketing plans for the key properties. Working with diverse and multi-functional project teams to manage end to end delivery of marketing plans for the different properties.
  • Marketing Communications: Developing clear briefs for the various properties/events as per the aligned goals/deliverables. Briefing the internal and external creative teams and clearly articulating the insights, potential campaign spaces and delivery expectations. Aligning the approach and finalization of the marketing communication plan (which should cover own media, paid media, digital, social, activations & programming) for the event. Driving the execution of individual plans along with a clear cascade plan which captures the on-air dates for all the different tactical elements of the marketing plan.
  • Campaign Execution: Working closely with Internal and External partners: Advertising agencies, media planners and media partners (Radio/Print/TV channels), research agencies, activation agencies, social and digital agencies, production houses/partners, Bollywood, and music studios. Developing 360 degree digital and communication plans through collaboration with key stakeholders: programming/content, ad-sales, distribution and internal corporate communications team. Assisting in planning and managing yearly multi-crore budgets in paid media and Star owned media for large impact properties.
  • Project tracking and review: Tracking the deliverables against the aligned goals/targets and crystallizing action points to be corrected in the next event.

Qualifications:

  • MBA – Top tier – B-School
  • 2-4 years of core marketing/brand experience and experience in driving ATL/BTL plans for large national consumer brands.

  • Undertaking of marketing principles, media planning, consumer research, ATL/BTL campaign development.
  • Taking initiative and managing cross functional teams
  • Clarity of thoughts in strategic initiatives.
