About the Role & Team
Disney’s Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) team oversees the Hulu and Disney+ streaming businesses within the Disney Entertainment segment, delivering The Walt Disney Company’s (TWDC) world-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere.
The Business Operations team enables the DTC organization to operate effectively and achieve both annual and long-range plans (AOP and LRP), while driving growth, stability, and overall business health. We work across teams and functions to align goals, priorities, and execution, creating momentum for what’s possible. Our role is to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and maximize resources that support DTC at scale.
We design new solutions and processes, partnering cross-functionally to ensure global operations run efficiently. We also tell the story of the DTC business—sharing results and future direction—while representing the organization in partnerships across TWDC. As stewards of the premium TWDC brand experience, we deliver value to consumers, employees, and shareholders through our streaming offerings and operational excellence
What You Will Do
As Business Operations Manager, Monetization & Growth, you will collaborate with teams across Disney Global Ad Sales, Ad Platform Technology, Product, Programming, Marketing, Finance, and more to drive monetization strategies that fuel DTC growth. This role requires expertise in customer engagement, advertising technology, data analytics, and regulatory considerations.
Reporting to the Manager, Monetization & Growth, you will help deliver scalable solutions that grow global advertising revenue while maintaining a premium brand experience. Your work directly impacts DTC’s top-line growth and overall business health.
Responsibilities
Growth Opportunities & Supply
- Partner with the Manager, Monetization & Growth to define and execute advertising supply strategies, including ad load optimization, new monetization opportunities, sponsorships, hosted content, and premium ad placements. Represent the DTC business and collaborate with Ad Platforms, Finance, and Ad Sales to ensure successful delivery.
- Act as a strategic thought partner to identify and drive new monetization opportunities and optimizations through growth initiatives that strengthen overall business health.
- Support international expansion by developing global and region-specific strategies, best practices, and insights, while facilitating knowledge sharing across markets.
- Tailor monetization approaches to align with regional market conditions, regulatory requirements, and cultural nuances, ensuring global objectives are met.
- Lead high-impact initiatives for monetization expansion, including new offerings for customers and advertising partners, content strategies, and platform development. Ensure alignment with broader company goals through cross-functional collaboration.
- Represent DTC in sponsorships and branded content opportunities, partnering with Programming, Content, and Partnerships teams to drive incremental revenue beyond traditional advertising.
- Integrate sponsorships and branded content into the overall monetization strategy, maintaining alignment with audience expectations and brand guidelines.
- Collaborate on merchandising and partner integrations to enhance ad inventory and revenue potential.
- Contribute to strategic projects that inform DTC’s growth and monetization roadmap.
- Support leadership in managing the Ad Business, including roadmap planning and documentation of data requirements.
Insights & Metrics
- Deliver KPI reporting and actionable insights on advertising revenue, performance trends, emerging opportunities, and risks.
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency across Finance, Technology, and Sales teams for performance evaluation.
- Analyze KPIs to uncover deeper insights, including high-value audiences, engagement trends, and pricing strategies.
- Quantify opportunities and risks and present findings to leadership for informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with Finance, Data Science, and Yield Management teams to improve forecasting accuracy and develop early-warning mechanisms for risks and opportunities.
- Maintain a data-driven perspective on expected outcomes, directing leadership attention to areas critical for achieving business plans.
- Partner with tooling teams to design dashboards that meet business requirements and self-service needs, ensuring ongoing accuracy in collaboration with Ad Platforms and DnA (Data and Analytics) teams.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 3+ years in digital media, streaming, or related fields with proven success in DTC monetization growth.
- Proficiency with Excel and/or Google Sheets, including experience with macros and process automation.
- Strong ability to create compelling presentations in PowerPoint or Google Slides, effectively telling a story with data for executive level audiences.
- Strong leadership presence, high energy, and ability to motivate teams.
- Skilled in translating strategy into actionable plans and managing complex projects.
- Exceptional communication and executive engagement skills.
- Experience navigating matrixed organizations and driving consensus.
- Broad digital business knowledge (finance, marketing, product, legal, analytics).
- Proven ability to deliver monetization strategies and revenue-driving initiatives.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Passion for Disney brands and franchises.
- SQL experience a plus but not required.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Additional Information
·This role is based either from the NYC or Glendale office 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) with flexibility to work from home on Friday.
The hiring range for this position in Glendale, California is $105,100.00 - $140,900.00 per year. The hiring range for this position in New York, New York is $107,400.00 - $147,600.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
