Content Operations is ultimately responsible for successfully delivering Disney’s entertainment and sports content to millions of people every day. This involves developing, operating, and leading a global content supply chain – the myriad of steps involved from taking a finalized TV show/movie, or live piece of content, from inside Disney to audiences around the globe, in their preferred language and format. This team also leads technology operations in Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

The Live Orchestration Department at DE&E Technology consists of agile and responsive teams of technicians that perform the daily processes and procedures required to run our live and on-demand streaming video products. The department’s responsibilities consist of round-the-clock support for these products, ensuring proper functionality across all platforms. Oversight includes both Linear and Event based content, hands-on operational and procedural support for our products, including system health monitoring and incident management, in addition to live and VOD streaming media orchestration using proprietary software.

A qualified Streaming Media Lead is a key member of our daily operations team, responsible for delivering high profile media product to market. By possessing advanced workflow knowledge and operational experience, this Lead has exceptional and specialized expertise in an analytical/scientific method or operational process, typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience. Their responsibilities also include data collection and analysis with an eye towards developing (and refining) best practices and driving high service reliability. In addition, this position supports Engineering, Programming, and Client Dev teams with product development and testing.

An Operations Lead will also:

  • Serve as a shift leader

  • Implement process and technological improvements set by Supervisor.

  • Kick-off the incident management process and/or serve as Subject Matter Expert during service outages.

  • Generate procedure documentation.

  • Provide operational efficiency feedback to leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4-years experience in a technical field directly related to delivery of video on the web.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Advanced knowledge of live/on-demand streaming; particularly HLS.

  • Understanding of SCTE-35 and SCTE-224/ESNI standards.

  • Experience tracking multiple concurrent projects and workstreams; knowledge of Jira or other tracking software.

  • Experience outlining testing requirements, developing and executing testing procedures.

  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous communication streams across mediums.

  • Must have flexibility with work schedule; nights, weekends, holidays when needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exhibits broad skills in data synthesis and data processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and effectively communicate through technical issues, especially under time constraints.

  • Has high level knowledge of technological workflows applied by this organization such as media encoding, media rights management, and content delivery.

  • Proven ability to implement guidance regarding data and technology improvement information from Supervisor.

  • Proven ability to construct workflow requirements and ensure that team members understand documentation and troubleshooting procedures.

  • Proven ability to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) during Sev1-2 Incidents.

The hiring range for this position in New York City is $71,500 - $98,200 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
