Primary function:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Asset Management and Technology team to ensure efficient fulfillment of all aspects of media
mastering and preparation work in compliance with the defined requirements and standards mandated by Disney businesses for linear and
nonlinear services across the Asia Pacific region.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, including Programming, Production and Content Sales, Distribution Operations, and Media Services to understand their business and operational needs. Ensure that all aspects of media mastering are performed per the defined requirements and standards.
- Manage day-to-day operational work based on specified requirements, organizing facilities and manpower resources to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Responsible for managing the technical division that has operational and technical functions including mastering, packaging, customization, archive/restore, repurposing, aggregation, and distribution of all program content across Asia.
- Coordinates in-house technology upgrades and facilitates technical logistics.
- Responsible for work allocation, problem-solving, training, and performance evaluation of staff in the technical division.
- Communicate with third-party distributors and vendors regarding content preparation to ensure that materials are delivered according to the defined Disney Technical Specification requirements.
- Research and stay updated on the latest industry technical standards, regulations, and related matters to incorporate best practices into our work, ensuring compliance and optimal job performance.
- Track budget, manage contracts, and cultivate strong business relationships with outsourced companies.
- Proactively manage and define workflow requirements for new initiatives to fulfill evolving operational service needs in broadcast or streaming distribution.
- Monitor and document operational issues, conduct investigations, and provide solutions.
- Ensure that documentation of all aspects of standard operational procedures is kept up-to-date and continue review to improve standard operating procedures.
Communications
- Provide proactive direction and leadership to manage the team.
- Collaborate closely with the Disney teams across APAC, the US, and the UK to source inventories, archive assets, and develop or implement standards.
- Communicate with internal clients and businesses across the APAC regions to understand their media requirements, ensuring timely fulfillment of their orders across all serving regions.
- Handle inquiries and complaints regarding operational or technical issues from both internal and external parties. Provide solutions by collaborating with the appropriate departments.
Experience Required
- Degree/Diploma certification, preferably in media studies or production.
- 4-6 years of experience in delivery, mastering, and post-production project management, preferably with a content streaming platform.
- 3+ years of supervisory and management roles.
- Strong project management experience, the ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and perform effectively under pressure.
- Ability to question processes, recommend impactful alternatives, prioritize effectively, adopt flexibility in tasks, and optimize workflows with tool recommendations for more efficient and effective processes.
- Collaborative spirit, expert at getting things done, self-motivated team player with a positive attitude towards work.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to focus on long-term scalability and growth of the business.
- Expertise with production and post-production workflows and UHD, HDR, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos technologies.
- Strong communication skills in both written and oral English; Asia language speaker preferred.
- Able to read and speak Japanese is an added advantage
- Proficient in staff management and development.
- Proficient in documenting comprehensive requirements and specifications.
